Rhythmic Gymnastics Apparatus

Rope

Ropes are sold in a standard long length and must be cut to fit each gymnast’s height individually.

To measure the correct length:

  1. Have your child stand on the center of the rope.
  2. Pull both ends of the rope up toward the underarms.
  3. Tie a knot at each end of the rope.

We require Pastorelli New Orleans Rope — FIG Approved ONLY.

No other brands or Amazon ropes are allowed for gymnasts.

Buy PROFESSIONAL ROPE

Hoop

The hoop should reach approximately to your child’s hip bone when standing straight and holding the hoop vertically from the floor alongside the leg. Please note that hoop sizes may vary slightly between brands.

We recommend choosing a white hoop, as it can be decorated to match the routine and leotard style.

Recommended brands: Sasaki, Chacott, Pastorelli

Please do not purchase hoops from Amazon or grocery stores for team gymnasts.

Hoop preferences may vary by gymnast, so feel free to consult with coach and other parents about their experiences when choosing a brand and size.

Ball

We recommend purchasing Sasaki or Chacott brand rhythmic gymnastics balls.

Please do not purchase Pastorelli balls.

The appropriate ball size depends on your child’s height and hand size. As a general guideline:

  • 15–16 cm — ages 4–7
  • 17 cm — ages 8–11
  • 18.5 cm — ages 10+

Please note that each brand has its own size chart. We recommend checking the specific brand’s size chart or contacting the vendor for assistance in selecting the correct size.

Clubs

We recommend Chacott Rubber (36.5 cm) or Chacott Hi-Grip Rubber (41 cm or 45 cm) for all of our students.

For non-competitive groups, any professional-quality clubs are acceptable.

The appropriate club size depends on the gymnast’s height and arm length. To determine the correct size, have the gymnast hold the club in their hand. The top of the club should not extend beyond the middle of the upper arm (bicep).

If you are unsure about the correct size, we recommend consulting coach for assistance.

Buy PROFESSIONAL CLUBS

For the beginners group (4-6 y.o.) we recommend the smallest clubs' size – 36 cm

Ribbon

A professional ribbon and stick are required for all Competitive Team gymnasts. We recommend purchasing Sasaki or Chacott brands.

Please note that the ribbon and stick are sold separately.

Different brands may have slightly different sizes and specifications, so please check the product details carefully when purchasing.

We recommend a 5 m ribbon for: Non-competitive students / Levels 3–5 / Levels 6–8

A 6 m ribbon is recommended for:

  • Gymnasts 15 years old and up / Higher FIG levels

Please check with your coach before purchasing a 6 m ribbon to make sure it is the appropriate length for your gymnast.

Buy PROFESSIONAL RIBBON

Ribbon Stick

A professional ribbon and stick are required for all Competitive Team gymnasts. We recommend purchasing Sasaki or Chacott brands.

Ribbon stick sizes:
The appropriate stick size depends on your child’s height and age:

  • 50 cm — approximately ages 8–11

  • 60 cm — ages 11 and up

Please check with your coach before purchasing to make sure you choose the correct stick size for your gymnast.
